Cars and Dragons

Uko to Daddy:
"Daddy, we have a red sports car."
"Really? I thought we had a boring red family car?"
"No, we have a race car."

Later:
"Daddy, if a dragon sets our car on fire are we going to get a new one?"

Kites

"Let's go fly a kite, Daddy."
"Now? Really? Right now?" It was howling wind. And cold.
"Daddy, you promised in the bookstore."
So we went to fly a kite. It was so windy we needed twelve feet of tail to keep it from diving.
Uko quickly lost interest in the kite itself. "Where's the kite's shadow, Daddy?"
So I brought the kite down low enough to see its shadow and Uko chased it for 30 minutes, giggling all the while. Later, we lowered the kite enough he could chase the tail itself.

Here's the video, though I can't figure out why it's lowrez:

Uko then insisted we go back again in the evening. This time we took the little kite Mike Scuffham gave him. Uko's big box kite catches enough air to pull him off his feet, but Mike's kite was one Uko can handle. So he sat quietly in his chair (the chair he insisted Daddy take along) and watched his kite in the sky.

Favorite People

Without provocation, Uko sometimes lists his favorite people. He did this today at the breakfast table. In this order: "Cinzia, Peter Pan, Roberto, Mommy, Daddy, Spiderman."

At least I beat Spiderman.

World Peace

Uko's fourth birthday is coming up next week. I asked his mommy what kind of birthday present she might like, were it her birthday. "I want world peace," she said.

"I want world peace, too," Uko piped in loudly from the sofa. "And chocolate."
